The Hiring Process…
Every job at GKI is important. We look for energetic individuals who are efficient workers, quality minded, detail oriented and have a positive attitude. Your ability to effectively communicate and work with others is vital regardless of the position you hold.
Prior to an interview, you will be required to fill out GKI’s Employment Application, this is required even if you have a resume. You may download the application from this site. If you are applying for several positions, make sure you notify us when you submit the application.
Based on your qualifications, a screening interview and pre-employment test will be scheduled at your convenience. A second interview and more in-depth testing may be scheduled with the supervisor in the respective department.
If hired, you will go through a training program during which your progress will be evaluated. Some training programs will require that you study materials off-hours.

Customer Service: Entails extensive customer contact by phone and email, data entry and word processing.
Job Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Excellent typing and organizational skills
- Professional, positive and friendly attitude.
- A Quality, teamwork attitude and high levels of accuracy
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Machining (Manual): Entails operation of manual milling & turning machines and grinders.
Job Requirements:
- General mechanical abilities, with aptitude toward understanding spatial and geometric relationships
- Manual operation of manual vertical milling machines (“Bridgeport” style knee mills) and manual lathes.
- Understanding of metal cutting tools in general and indexable cutting tools specifically (tool holders, boring bars, milling cutters, etc.)
- Extensive experience with measuring equipment, including: optical comparators, height gauges, dial indicators.
- You must on the following tools on the first day of work: .0005 dial indicator, caliper, tap handles, hammer & small punches, screw drivers, channel-lock pliers.

Machining (CNC): Entails operation of 4 & 5-axis CNC vertical milling machines and CNC lathes.
Job Requirements:
- General mechanical abilities, with aptitude toward understanding spatial and geometric relationships
- Understanding of metal cutting tools in general and indexable cutting tools specifically (tool holders, boring bars, milling cutters, etc.)
- Extensive experience with measuring equipment, including: optical comparators, height gauges, dial indicators.
- For positions in CNC milling: extensive experience with CNC vertical milling machines including: machine set up, operations, editing programs on Haas vertical mills, 4 & 5-axis experience.
- For positions in CNC turning: extensive experience with CNC lathes including: machine set up, operations, editing programs on Fanuc controls.
- SurfCam, CamWorks or similar software experience helpful.

Welding: Entails TIG welding of machine tools.
Job Requirements:
- General mechanical abilities, with aptitude toward understanding spatial and geometric relationships
- Extensive TIG welding experience

Quality Control: Entails assembly and final inspection of indexable cutting tools using various measuring equipment.
Job Requirements:
- General mechanical abilities, with aptitude toward manual dexterity
- Understanding of metal cutting tools in general and indexable cutting tools specifically (tool holders, boring bars, milling cutters, etc.)
- Extensive experience with measuring equipment, including: optical comparators, height gauges, dial indicators.

Shipping & Receiving: Entails packaging of materials, data entry, order tracking and extensive interaction with customer service and plant members.

- Basic typing skills

General Factory: Entails miscellaneous factory work, including: assembly, disassembly, sandblasting, maintenance.

Policies…
GKI supports a clean, safe and respectful work environment. Just a few of the requirements you should be aware of:
- Plant jobs require various safety equipment. Steel toe shoes are required in all plant positions, which are the company member’s responsibility. Hearing protection, safety glasses and gloves are provided by the company.
- Some technical positions require that you have your own tools.
- All plant jobs require that you be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- All jobs require ability to read and communicate in English
- Working hours for full time members:
Machining & Welding departments:
6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday, Friday overtime if scheduled
Inspection, Shipping/Receiving, General Factory Departments:
8: 00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
Customer Service & General Office:
8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Friday
Working hours may be rescheduled, as necessary, at supervisors’ discretion.

- Smoking is not permitted at GKI.
